An estimated 14,000 cigarette butts are littered in St. John's every day - the most littered item in the city

Cigarette butts are one of the largest litter items in the city. Over 5 million cigarrette butts can be found on the streets of St. John's. These butts don't decompose, and are full of toxins that leak into our waterways. This year, we teamed up with Downtown St. John's to put an end to that.

Our #ButtFreeYYT cigarette butt disposal receptacles recycle the waste into items such as shipping pallets and park benches. Smokers now have 40 recycling receptacles throughout downtown St. John's to dispose of their cigarette butts.

Through these unique cigarette butt disposal units and our awareness and educational campaigns, we aim to create a #buttfreeyyt.
